This site encompasses the Former Koppers wood-treatment and Cabot Carbon pine-tar product facilities in Gainesville, FL. Historically, the Koppers facility commenced treatment operations in 1916, using a range of contaminants, including creosote, pentachlorophenol, and chromated copper arsenate. Resulting primary COCs found in soils included dioxin, PAHs, and arsenic.
Sevenson executed precision excavation of 40,000 CY of contaminated soil from 90 residential properties using two PC138 excavators to dig to a depth of 1-ft. BGS in front and backyards. The excavators directly loaded material into dump trucks, which then transported the removed soil to an on-site, Client-owned landfill. Sevenson implemented and adhered to the client’s Community Relations Plan to ensure clear communication with all stakeholders and property owners and worked individually with each homeowner to document and review restoration preferences.
